Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Chairman Ben Ray Luján has announced that Brendan Kelly has earned a spot on the first round of the DCCC’s Red to Blue program, according to a news release from the organization.
Kelly is one of 11 Democratic candidates in the country to receive this designation. Kelly seeks to oust Republican incumbent Mike Bost in the 12th District election next November.
The release states that Kelly earned the recognition by surpassing aggressive goals for grassroots engagement, local support, campaign organization and fundraising.
“Brendan Kelly has deep roots in Southern Illinois and a strong record of service from his time in the Navy to his impressive career taking on criminals and corruption as a prosecutor,” Luján said in the release. “Brendan does what’s right, even when it’s not easy or popular, and that’s the kind of independent voice that Southern Illinois deserves in Congress."
Red to Blue is a program at the DCCC that arms top-tier candidates with organizational and fundraising support to help them continue to run strong campaigns.
