WAYNE COUNTY - A Belleville man died in a crash Friday on Illinois 64 in Wayne County.

Richard Stehlick, 52, suf-fered fatal injuries when his pickup truck collided with a tractor-trailer truck at 5:25 p.m., state police said.

The crash occurred when Stehlick, who was parked on the shoulder of eastbound 64, suddenly attempted to turn north into an emergency vehicle median turnaround. As the pickup was crossing both lanes of traffic, it was struck by a tractor-trailer driven by Christopher Sutton, 44, of Arlington, Texas.

Sutton was unable to avoid the collision and the front of the truck-tractor hit the driver’s side of the pick-up, ejecting Stehlick from the vehicle.

Stehlick was pronounced dead at the scene. Sutton suffered minor injuries and was taken to Fairfield Memorial Hospital.

No tickets were issued. The crash remains under investi-gation.
