CARTERVILLE — Betty Lorraine Palmer, 93, passed away Saturday, Dec. 2, 2017, at Manor Court in Carbondale.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2017, in Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville, with Pastor Michael Williams officiating. Burial will be in Egyptian Memorial Gardens in Energy. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church in Carterville or to Anne West Lindsey Library in Carterville.
Betty was born March 22, 1924, in Kewanee to Matt and Lillian (Wahl) Steffes.
She married Leroy Palmer on Sept. 26, 1947, in Carterville. He preceded her in death May 22, 2014.
She is survived by her daughters, Sondra (John) Walker of Carterville and Marsha (George) Boehm of Sebastian, Florida; grandchildren, Kristen (Nick) Dame of Plant City, Florida, Carrie Boehm of Sebastian, Amy Wright of Carterville, Clint Walker of Carterville and Ryan “Mo” (Mandy) Bandy of Columbia; great-grandchildren, Logan Dame, Braden Wright, Addyson Wrigh, and Kellan Bandy; and several nieces and nephews.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Rhonda Tyner; and brother, Donavon Forquer.
She retired after 28 years of service at American Magnetics in Carterville. Betty had previously worked for Good Luck Glove Factory in Carbondale then Sangamo and Smoler Brothers Factory.
She was a gifted seamstress who enjoyed playing Pinochle, reading and watching Westerns.
