HERRIN — Brayden John Pahl, 11, died Sunday, Feb. 18, 2018, in Children's Hospital in St. Louis.
He was born Sunday, Jan. 7, 2007, in Marion. He was the son of John Pahl and Tarna Pahl.
In the words of the family, "He will always be our sunshine."
He is survived by brother, Tyler Pahl of New Mexico; sister, Lindsay Pahl of Freeman Spur; grandmother, Debbie Hagler of Herrin; grandfather, Jim Hagler of Carbondale; two great-grandmothers, Virginia Bartels of Chittyville and Fern Hagler of Carbondale. He is also survived by two aunts, Amy Hagler of Louisville, Kentucky, and Kathy Turner of Tampa, Florida; six uncles, Kenneth Hagler Louisville, Kentucky, Robert Bartels of Herrin, James Frick of Chittyville, Dave Pahl of Wisconisn, Jeff Paul of New Mexico, and Randy Glisson of Carterville. There are also several cousins and friends surviving.
Brayden was preceded in death by his grandfathers, John Pahl and Kenneth Alfred Bartels; grandmother, Annette Howard; and one aunt, Cindy Shands.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Van Natta Funeral Home at 427 S. Park Ave., in Herrin. Interment will be in Herrin City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 22, at the funeral home.
