WEST FRANKFORT — Carolyn Sue Wilson, 74, passed away peacefully at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital-Mount Vernon at 4:25 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 7, 2017, with her husband and children by her side.
Carolyn was born May 17, 1943, in Christopher, to Athena Eckles.
She was of the Pentecostal faith.
Carolyn loved helping others and working for her church. For 23 years, she had a ministry at Severin’s Nursing Home on Wednesday. She was a pet groomer for 33 years and a housekeeper for her and her husband.
She loved going fishing anytime or any place.
She was preceded in death by her mother; sister, Brenda Helfner; stepdaughter, Rhonda Williams of North Dakota; and two grandchildren, Austin Hinkle and Makayla Sloan.
Carolyn leaves behind her husband of 35 years, Jerry E. Wilson; two sons, Ty and Tim Jones of Benton; stepson, Jerry R. Wilson of Arizona; stepdaughter, Kerri Ann (Kenny) Wintz of West Frankfort; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In the family's words, "She will be greatly missed by all, but we know she is at peace with Jesus."
Graveside memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 15, in East Fork Cemetery in West Frankfort, with Gary Darnell officiating. There will be no visitation. Friends are asked to meet at the cemetery prior to the service.
