MURPHYSBORO — Claude "Michael" Worthen, 48, of Murphysboro, passed away at 8:50 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 8, 2017, at his residence in Murphysboro.
Michael was born on Sept. 26, 1969, in Murphysboro, to Michael Worthen and Mary Darlene (Ford) Compton.
He worked as a carpenter.
Mr. Worthen was a member of the Eagles at Chester, where he had been a D.J. He loved fishing and hunting and anything outdoors and anything involving music.
Michael is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Victoria Brooke and Kyle Choate of Perryville, Missouri, and Sara Lynn and Ray Maynard of Percy; his mother and stepfather, Mary and Thurmon Compton of Murphysboro; five grandchildren, Lillian, Aiden Devin, William, and Stanley; one stepson, Ty Thompson of Walsh, Illinois; two brothers and one sister, Paul B. Compton of Belleville, Tami Compton of West Frankfort, and Andrew Compton and his wife, Tammy Compton, of Beaver Dam, Kentucky; one half-brother, Michael Worthen of Herrin; his grandfather, Claude Worthen, and his wife, Roberta Worthen, of Murphysboro; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; and special friends Tony and Shannon Glaser and Keith and Crystal Thompson.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11, at Pettett Funeral Home and visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the family. His body will be cremated and private graveside services will be held at a later date.
