HARRISBURG — Lyle Lee, 91, died Thursday, Oct. 19, 2017, in Marion VA Medical Center.
He has been cremated and will be interred at Brushy Creek Cemetery, near Harco, at a later date. Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills is assisting the family with the details.
He was born Sept. 7, 1926, in Harco.
He was a retired self-employed water ski instructor from Fort Lauderdale and Pompano Beach, Florida. At one time, he held the world record for long distance skiing established on Aug. 21, 1956, at Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri. The non-stop record took 24 hours, 46 minutes and encompassed 682 miles.
He is survived by three children, Terry (Terry) Elms of Ozark, Valerie Lee of Richmond, Texas, and Lyle Patton (Lori) Lee of Pace, Florida; three grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren; eight great-stepgrandchildren; and two great-great-stepgrandchildren.
