CARBONDALE — Mary Edna Flanigan, 97, passed away Friday, Dec. 1, 2017, in Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.
Mary was born March 24, 1920, in Carbondale, a daughter to the late Michael and Sarah (Hiller) Williams.
She was united in marriage to Clarence “Jake” Henry Flanigan on Oct. 22, 1943, in Miami, Florida. They shared more than 74 years of marriage.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, in Huffman-Harker-Walker Funeral Home in Carbondale, with Trustee Mike Chylewski and Diane Chylewski officiating. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery in Carbondale.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Drury Christian Church, in care of Becky, 448 Tabouring Lane, Carbondale, IL 62902.
Mary is survived by her husband of 74 years, Jake Flanigan of Carbondale; brother, Ralph Lloyd Williams of Carterville; nephews, John Mann and wife, Jessica, of Carterville, Jess and wife, Laura, Mann of Carterville, Jason and wife, Kim, Mann of Mount Vernon, Michael Williams of Carterville, Earl Roberts and wife, Kathy, Flanigan of Equality, Mike and Dana Flanigan of Marion, Keith and wife, Bunny, Flanigan of Tovey, Arnold and wife, Brenda, Mason of Stonefort; and many great-nieces and nephews; Good neighbors; Virginia and Craig Holt, Raymond and Emma Blair, and Doris Vickers; and the church family of Drury Christian Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Sarah Williams, sister, Catherine and husband, Paul, Mann; and in-laws, Oak and Effie Flanigan, Earl and wife, Bea, Flanigan, and George and wife, Bea Flanigan.
Mary will be remembered by her long extended family for her love for all of them and her love for animals especially dogs.
