MURPHYSBORO — Michele Y. Joiner, 51, went to be with her Lord and Savior at 8:20 p.m. Friday, April 13, 2018, in Memorial Hospital in Carbondale.
Michele was born May 10, 1966, in Alton, to Austin O. Wright and Mary E. (Howell) Wright.
She had worked as a secretary, but her greatest joy in life was taking care of her grandson, Aven.
Mrs. Joiner had been saved and baptized at Elm Street Baptist Church, where she was a member.
Michele is survived by one son, Joseph Drew Joiner of Murphysboro; one stepson, Jeff Joiner of Red Oak, Iowa, whom she raised from the time he was a child; one grandson, Aven Drew Storey of Metropolis; one brother Michael A. Wright of Murphysboro; one sister and brother-in-law, Cindy and Craig Rose of Murphysboro; three nephews, Nathan Wright, Craig Rose, and Chad Rose; one niece, Lesleigh Wright of Chicago; and three great-nieces; and one great-nephew.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and one great-niece.
Her body will be cremated. A memorial service will be at noon Monday, April 16, in Elm Street Baptist Church, with the Rev. Charles Allen officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to noon Monday at the church.
