MARION — Prudence Ann Stirewalt, 87, passed away May 12, 2018, in Deaconess Hospital in Evansville.
Prudence was born Feb. 22, 1931, in Danville to Cedric and Irene Mary (Carrier) Rice.
She loved indoor plants. They gave her much joy. Prudence enjoyed watching birds and was an avid animal lover. During 1960 to 1970, while living in Champaign, she was the president of the Jr. Women’s Club. She sang in the Champaign County fair for many years and lead in many play productions there. Prudence also enjoyed crafts, ceramics and drawing, and loved spending time with her family.
Survivors include sons, Michael and Wendy Stirewalt of Dwight, and Kevin Stirewalt of Benton; daughter, Karen Irwin of Marion; grandchildren, Laura and Travis Halstead, Lisa and Ryan Offermann, Zachary and Samantha Irwin, Dustin and Samantha Irwin, Dean and Sirrea Van der Zanden and Cody Gibson; great-grandchildren, Landon Leel Offermann, Blyze Michael Halstead, Rylan Cooper Offermann, Lillian Mae Van der Zanden, Brecklin Loyd Halstead, Cooper Donald Irwin, Ella Rose Irwin, Addison Grace Van der Zanden, Remington Wilder Irwin and baby boy Irwin on the way; and sisters, Mary Anne and Chris Gristina of Fort Worth, Texas, and Melinda and Myron Isaac of Fisher.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Evan Rice, and son-in- law, Don Irwin.
Services will be at noon Saturday, May 19, in Blue Funeral Home in Marion, with Monsignor Thomas Flach officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at the funeral home.
