PINCKNEYVILLE -- Ronald (Ron) Dale Johnson, 76, of Lutz, Fla., went to be with the Lord, March 20, 2014.
He was born in Pinckneyville, in 1937. He graduated from Pinckneyville High School in 1956, then attended SIU, majoring in Fine Arts. Ron was well respected in his career of hotel and restaurant management in St. Louis and Kansas City. He was an extremely gifted singer, musician and artist. He was a member of the The Flattoppers quartet in the 1950’s.
Ron is preceded in death by his father, Dale W. Johnson and mother, Margaret R. Johnson of Pinckneyville, and his brother, Terry R. Johnson of Tampa, Fla.
He is survived by his sister, Angela K. Pyatt and her husband, Bob; nephews, Dale and his wife, Cathy (Opp), and Robert Pyatt and wife Nikki (Hubler); niece, Kay Jean (Pyatt) Winter and her husband, Dale; and six great-nieces and nephews, all of Pinckneyville.
He is also survived by Danelle (Sedlack) Johnson, formerly of Christopher. Their marriage of 22 years began Dec. 26, 1959, in First Methodist Church of Christopher. They had two daughters, Merritt Morris and husband, Art, and Angela Winkler and husband, Chris, all currently of Lancaster, S.C. Ron is also survived by two grandchildren, Anna (Morris) Beam and husband, Justin of Anderson, S.C., as well as Max Morris of Lancaster, S.C., and his fiancée, Sara Parker.
After moving to Florida, he married his companion of many years, Eileen Siegel, of Lutz, in 2004 until May 2012 and continued to be close friends until Ron’s passing.
