HURST — Virginia Lorraine “Aunt Ginny” Davis departed this life for her heavenly home on Saturday, Feb. 10, at Integrity Healthcare in Herrin, Illinois.

Virginia was born to H.K. and Chloe Mae (Shelton) Harrison on July 29, 1920, in Hurst, Illinois. She attended grade school and high school in Hurst Bush, Illinois.

She went on to marry the love of her life, John “Fred” Davis, on Dec. 7, 1940, in Perryville, Missouri. Fred preceded her in death on April 9, 1998; they shared 58 years of marriage.

Aunt Ginny was a sales associate for Sears for more than 25 years. She could sell a refrigerator to an Eskimo she was so exceptional at her job!

Virginia is survived by her brother, Joe (Kathy) Harrison of Hurst, plus many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and -nephews, and great-great-nieces and -nephews; as well as special friends Larry and Betty Jacobs of Trenton, Illinois.

She was preceded in death by her parents, H.K. and Chloe; infant brother, Harry Curtis; adult brothers, Richard (Juanita) Harrison, Eugene “Meatball” (Rose) Harrison, Ben (Jane) Harrison and Don Harrison; and sisters, Evelyn (Bill) Arnold and Mary Kempfer.

Uncle Fred and Aunt Ginny loved to travel and they especially enjoyed exploring the USA on long vacations.

Aunt Ginny was a member of First Christian Church in Hurst and Eastern Star Chapter 98 in Belleville, Illinois. She loved her family and her church.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 13, at Walkers Funeral Home in Hurst. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 14, at Walkers Funeral Home in Hurst with Pastor Greg Parker officiating. Graveside services will be in Blairsville Cemetery.

Special thanks and appreciation are extended to Dr. Pramote and his staff in Herrin, Illinois, the staff at Hurricane Creek Assisted Living Center in Herrin, Illinois, and the staff at Integrity Health Care in Herrin, Illinois, for the love and care they extended to Aunt Ginny.

Memorials are requested to Shriner’s Children’s Hospital or the Hurst Ambulance Department.
