JONESBORO — Wanda L. Gardner, 88, died Thursday, May 10, 2018, in Southeast Health in Cape Girardeau.
She was born March 23, 1930, in Cobden, the daughter of Louie Robert and Mildred Marie (Treece) Kelley.
She married John Lewis Gardner on March 27, 1949, in Jonesboro. He preceded her in death on June 2, 2004.
Wanda is survived by her three daughters, Joyce M. (Carl) Rendleman, Patricia A. Moehring, and Diana (Keith) Robertson, all of Jonesboro; five grandchildren, Kelley (Erick) Schwartz, Lisa (Josh) Tripp, Angela (Warren) Moehring, Kendra (Timotheus) Pope, and Cassie (Anthony) Cobb; eight great-grandchildren, Dalton Cobb, Simeon, Jada, Kayla, Judah, Susanna, Charity, and Asher Pope; sister, Kathy Knight of Jonesboro; other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Lewis Gardner; brother, Louie Kelley; sisters, Deloris Ludlow and Leonora Collins; brothers- in-law, Ellison “Fuzzy” Knight, James Ludlow and Don Collins; and sister-in- law, Dorothy Armstrong.
Wanda was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church in Jonesboro.
She retired from Jonesboro Grade School in 1991 after working many years as the cafeteria manager.
She enjoyed working in her yard and tending to her flowers. She loved spending the day with her daughters going out to eat or shopping. She dearly loved her family and her grandchildren meant the world to her.
Services will be at noon Monday, May 14, in Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro, with Pastor Mark Hasty officiating. Interment will be in the Jonesboro Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. and until the service hour at noon Monday at the funeral home.
