One year ago, on Feb. 28, 2017, a tornado blew through Southern Illinois, damaging several homes in Jackson and Franklin counties.

According to the National Weather Service in a report released last year, the tornado was an EF-4 with an estimated peak wind speed of 180 miles per hour and a path 50.4 miles long. It first touched down at 7:55 p.m. northwest of Perryville, Missouri, then lifted at 8:57 p.m. southwest of Christopher.

One person died in Perry County, Missouri, and 12 were injured.
