MARION - Modern Woodmen of America donated books to Marion Carnegie Library in recognition of Make A Difference Day.
Valued at $50, the books include "Build Your Own Paper Robot," "Survival Skills: How to Handle Life's Catastrophes" and "Think No Evil: Inside the Story of the Amish Schoolhouse Shooting and Beyond." These books are available for library patrons to check out.
Make A Difference Day, created by USA WEEKEND Magazine, is an annual event that takes place on the fourth Saturday of every October. Individuals and groups are encouraged to carry out volunteer projects that help oth-ers.
Modern Woodmen of America is one of the nation's largest fraternal benefit societies, with more than 750,000 members. The organization offers life insurance, annuities, investment and banking products, as well as fraternal camp and youth service club programs.
Members of Modern Woodmen of America participate in many volunteer projects, including planting trees and building benches through the Good Neighbor Project. They also sponsor various fundraisers such as auctions and gospel sings.
