HARRISBURG - After a one-year hiatus, there will be - and appropriately so - a renaissance of the Madrigal Feaste, presented by Southeastern Illinois College.

Performances will be at 6 p.m. Dec. 4 and 5 and 12:30 p.m. Dec. 6 in the college's Visual and Performing Arts Center. BBQ Barn is catering the event.

Cost is $20 per person. Due to the need to pre-order food, reservations are required. The deadline to make reservations is Mon-day.

The medieval festival centers around a Christmas feast, as the king and queen of the castle invite their dukes, lords and ladies, and even the villagers to the castle to celebrate the holiday by partaking in boar and wassail, a traditional spiced cider.

While the meal is indeed the focus, there will also be entertainment, including a cappella numbers. Musical numbers will feature hand bells and other period instruments.

For reservations, call 618-252-5400, ext. 2486.
