Nine seventh-grade students at St. Andrew School participated in the Region 8 Science Fair on March 29 at SIU. They included Carly Calloway, Eric Dollinger, Cam Hudgins, John Lauzon, Lucas Morefield, Kian Stevens-Winston, Kyle Stuhrenberg, Daniel Taylor and Jack Wood. All nine students attending received gold award certificates (first place). Three students were awarded monetary prizes: Kyle Stuhrenberg was awarded a $100 prize for an outstanding technology project, sponsored by the Center for Innovation at the SIUC College of Business; Cam Hudgins (above left) was awarded a $50 award for overall excellence. Cam's award was sponsored by the Office of the Chancellor; and Lucas Morefield (above right) won a $100 prize for overall excellence, sponsored by the College of Education and Human Services. Cam and Lucas were among those chosen to represent our region at the state science fair May 7 at the University of Illinois. Melissa Purdy is the science teacher at St. Andrew School in Murphysboro.
