SIU men's basketball player Justin Bocot is participating in the Salukis' game with Kansas State University today at the Diamond Head Classic in Honolulu.
Bocot was suspended from game play by SIU men's head coach Chris Lowery after a female acquaintance of Bocot's filed a sexual assault report with Carbondale police Dec. 4. Bocot's accuser said he assaulted her Dec. 3.
Carbondale police investigated the alleged sexual assault and a related criminal damage to property report filed by Bocot. Police findings were forwarded to Jackson County State's Attorney Mike Wepsiec, who said today he would not discuss the investigation or possible charges.
Bocot's lawyer, H. Wesley Wilkins, said he would not comment on the investigation or Bocot's participation in today's basketball game.
Bocot, 23, is a fifth-year senior from Bloomington.
The Southern Illinoisan is awaiting a statement from SIU expected to come later today.
