For nearly 2,800 Southern Illinois University students, the big day has arrived.
There are four separate SIU Carbondale commencement ceremonies scheduled for Saturday. Three ceremonies will be held at the SIU Arena for undergraduate, graduate and professional students, and a fourth ceremony will take place at 3 p.m. in Shryock Auditorium for SIU School of Law graduates.
The 9 a.m. ceremony at SIU Arena will feature graduates from the College of Agricultural Sciences, College of Liberal Arts, College of Science and School of Medicine.
The 1:30 p.m. ceremony at the SIU Arena will include graduates from the College of Business and College of Education and Human Services.
The 5:30 p.m. ceremony at the SIU Arena will include graduates from the College of Applied Sciences and Arts, College of Engineering, and College of Mass Communications and Media Arts.
According to SIU Media Services, a total of 2,778 candidates are expected to receive degrees on Saturday:
- 2,079 candidates for bachelor’s degrees
- 476 candidates for master’s degrees
- 70 candidates for doctoral degrees
- 98 law degree candidates
- and 55 candidates for associate degrees.
613 students will wear special medallions and honor cords for academic achievements.
