CARBONDALE - Southern Illinois University Carbondale's Paul Simon Public Policy Institute and WSIU Public Broadcasting have announced the appearance of former U.S. Sen. Alan Dixon, D-Ill., has been cancelled due to illness. Dixon was scheduled to speak on campus on Thursday, Oct. 4.

Dixon's appearance was to mark the 50th anniversary of WSIU-TV and the 15th anniversary of the Paul Simon Public Policy Institute.

Former Illinois Gov. James R. Thompson will speak at the University on Oct. 25 as part of the anniversary celebrations.
