SIU law school graduates are finding jobs, according to a recent survey.

National Jurist magazine ranks the SIU School of Law 12th in improved employment rates of graduates between 2011 and 2013, with an 11.4 percent increase.

The survey bumps the school's employment success rate up to 82.7 percent. The survey's formula gave greater weight to full-time jobs that required law degrees.

"We have a curriculum that emphasizes practical skills and that gives our students outstanding preparation for practice," Dean Cynthia L. Fountaine said. "Employers know they can count on SIU Law graduates to hit the ground running in their first jobs."

Using the magazine's formula, SIU was one of only 20 law schools to improve graduates' employment rates by 10 percent or more over the last two years.
