The reorganization plan proposed by Southern Illinois University Carbondale Chancellor Carlo Montemagno was once again the focus of public comments at Wednesday’s working session of the SIU Board of Trustees in Edwardsville.
According to WSIU, Faculty Senate President Kathleen Chwalisz spoke in favor of the plan and criticized opposition tactics.
Others, including Faculty Association President Dave Johnson, expressed opposition to the plan.
WSIU reports that there was no mention of the ethics inquiries into the hiring of two of Montemagno’s family members, an issue first reported by campus newspaper The Daily Egyptian Jan. 30.
The board asked a few clarification questions about tuition and fee rates for next year but held off on discussion of the matter.
The board will reconvene for the full meeting Thursday at 9 a.m.
