ST. LOUIS (AP) — Ameren Corp. on Friday said its board declared a quarterly dividend of 40 cents on its common stock.

The dividend is payable Dec. 31 to shareholders of record as of Dec. 12.

Separately, the board of Union Electric Co., the company's Missouri subsidiary, declared dividends on all classes of its preferred stock. The preferred dividends, which were not specified, are payable Feb. 15 to shareholders of record as of Jan. 18.

In addition, the board of Ameren Illinois Co. set quarterly dividends on all of its preferred stock. These dividends are payable Feb. 1 to shareholders of record on Jan. 7.

St. Louis-based Ameren provides electricity and natural gas to more than 3 million customers in Missouri and Illinois.

Ameren common shares closed Friday down 20 cents at $32.60.
