Paris, Illinois, native Brett Eldredge has been announced as a headliner at this year's Illinois State Fair, the state said in a news release.
Eldredge has two No. 1 albums and two No. 2 albums, and five country airplay No. 1 singles. He will play the grandstand on Friday, Aug. 17.
Eldredge's career has been on a steady rise this decade. In 2010, he was part of a free concert at the Lincoln Square Theatre, the prize in an online fan-vote contest spearheaded by WDZQ-FM. He appeared there with Justin Moore and Thompson Square.
Country performer Brantley Gilbert was previously announced as a state fair headliner.
Tickets for grandstand shows will go on sale later this year. The 2018 Illinois State Fair runs Aug. 9 to 19. The Du Quoin State Fair runs Aug. 24 to Sept. 3.
