A Dongola woman suffered major injuries and a Jonesboro man suffered minor injuries after a

two-vehicle crash Thursday in Johnson County.

At about 8:23 a.m. Thursday, Lindsay Goddard, 19 of Dongola, was eastbound on Illinois 146, about one-tenth of a mile west of Pleasant Grove Road, when she failed to see or react to another vehicle stopped for a school bus, according to Illinois State Police, district 22. Goddard’s vehicle struck the other in the rear and then came to a rest in the middle of the roadway, blocking both lanes of traffic.

Goddard was airlifted to Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis with major injuries. The other driver, Charles Mills, 48, of Jonesboro, was taken to Union County Hospital in Anna with minor injuries. Goddard was charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and failure to wear a seatbelt.
