KAPPA — Authorities are investigating the death of a person whose body was found by fishermen in the Mackinaw River in central Illinois.

The (Bloomington) Pantagraph reports that the body was discovered Saturday morning near the village of Kappa.

McLean County Sheriff Mike Emery says the body was found partially submerged under a highway bridge just south of the village.

He says no missing persons reports have come in to his department or to Woodford County. Emery says an alert has been shared with other agencies around the state.

The McLean County coroner, the Illinois State Police and local law enforcement personnel were on the scene Saturday.
