To the Editor:

The ancient prophet Amos predicted that people in his culture would say "we dare not mention the name of the Lord."

That statement could be said of our culture today. We dare not mention His name in biology class. We dare not mention His name in government buildings. We dare not mention His name on football fields. We dare not mention His name in graduation speeches. We dare not mention His name in bakeries. We dare not mention His name in pizza places. We dare not mention His name in flower ships. We dare not mention His name in ... most TV Christmas specials.

We dare not do this because we must keep separation of church and biology class. We must keep separation of church and government buildings. We must keep separation of church and football field. We must keep separation of church and graduation ceremony. We must keep separation of church and bakery. We must keep separation of church and pizza place. We must keep separation of church and flower shop. We must keep separation of church and ... TV Christmas specials.

I do not now, nor ever will, agree with these "separations." I say, especially during this season, that we do "mention the name of the Lord," that we keep "Christ" in Christmas. I say that we never forget, that He is the real reason for the season.
