To the Editor:

I want to convey my heartfelt thanks to all the voters of the 2018 SIUC Student Trustee Election. It has been an extremely humbling experience. I am honored that many of you placed your trust in me to be an advocate for the SIUC community.

During the campaign, I had the opportunity to meet with many SIUC students here on campus, and also with organizations, alumni, staff and faculty members associated with the campus. I will strive to make new connections, continue building social networks, and most importantly continue advocating for students with this position.

With your support and trust, I will continue to work vigorously on your behalf to help address concerns, to create solutions, and to promote effective and efficient improvements that further enhance the quality of life for the SIUC community.

I am especially thankful for the support of the Africana Studies Department, the Black Graduate Student Association, Eta Sigma Gamma, Graduate Assistants United, Graduate and Professional Student Council, and Undergraduate Student Government.

I would also like to thank my opponent, Josephine Arnett, who continues to ably serve her respective campus communities and to seek strong solutions for campus problems. I look forward to working with you in the future and thank you for your willingness to serve the campus.

For those of you who did not vote for me, I promise you that I will strive to be an advocate for all.

Again, I truly appreciate you for the opportunity to serve. If you have any questions for me, contact me at brionel@siu.edu, 618-453-7149, or in my office at Faner 4023, Africana Studies Department.
