To the Editor:
How many times do the majority of Americans — of every race — say this conduct is disgraceful and unwelcome to the "Land of the free and the home of the brave?" All citizens who live in this great nation, those who serve or have served in the military and enjoy the freedom that our national anthem and our American flag represents, should either love it or leave it.
We were not there when America fought for our independence and Francis Scott Key penned what he witnessed. We were not there during the French and Indian War. We were not there during the Civil War or World War I. However, many still survive who fought in subsequent wars and conflicts who were led through battles by the national anthem and the American flag. All creeds, colors, diverse nationalities, men and women sacrificed to make our United States of America the wonderful country that we enjoy today.
Where were those who now choose to take a knee? At a football game? Maybe those who are doing so should consider standing with respect for our national anthem and flag of the great United States of America and take two knees at a church for God who can offer wisdom in your protests. I'll be there for you — just ask God please.
