CARBONDALE — Kourtney Goff will not return to the SIU men’s basketball team this season, coach Barry Hinson said Friday.

Goff, a walk-on from Rochester, N.Y., who transferred from Olive Harvey College in 2011, is expected to sign with a Division II school for his senior season. He has not participated in summer workouts. The 6-foot, 180-pound guard started nine of 28 games and scored 41 points. One of his best games came at Northeastern Nov. 19, when he scored five points, grabbed two rebounds and had three assists in 28 minutes.

“I’ve talked to him and his dad, and we’ve done whatever we could to help him find another school,” Hinson said. “We wish him all the best in the future.”

SIU now has 12 players for the 2012-13 season after Goff’s departure from the team. Former Trico High School forward Chase Heins has not been officially added to the roster, but told The Southern Illinoisan he will be a part of the team this winter. Hinson still has two scholarships available.
