SIU relief pitcher Ryan Netemeyer delivers a pitch in the sixth inning against Arkansas State during a 2015 game at Itchy Jones Stadium.

CARBONDALE — SIU closer Ryan Netemeyer has been named as one of 40 players on the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Midseason Stopper of the Year watch list.

The junior righty earned his 13th save of the season Tuesday night in the Salukis' come-from-behind, 7-5 win at Southeast Missouri State. His 26 career saves rank second in school history.

Netemeyer's 13 saves are the third-most in the NCAA and tied Al Levine's single-season record, set in 1990. His five saves in Missouri Valley Conference play are the most of anyone in the league.

Netemeyer was one of three Valley pitchers on the list for the Stopper of the Year Award, which goes to the nation's best reliever. Dallas Baptist's Seth Elledge and Missouri State's Bran Young also made the list. Finalist for the award will be announced June 7. The winner will be announced June 17.
