CARBONDALE — SIU point guard Rishonda Napier earned her third straight first team all-conference honor Wednesday, as the Missouri Valley Conference announced its all-league teams on the eve of the women's basketball tournament in Moline.

Napier became just the third player in Saluki history to be named to the Valley's first team three times, joining forward Dyana Pierre (2014-16) and guard Nikki Gilmore (94-96). The Valley's third-leading active scorer with 1,713 points, Napier has the third-most 3-pointers in league history (274) and could move into second place with three more.

Junior forward Kylie Giebelhausen, SIU's leading scorer (13.8 points per game) and second-leading rebounder (5.5 per game) this season, joined her on the first team. Giebelhausen is seventh in the league in scoring, 14th in rebounding, first in 3s per game (2.77) and fifth in blocked shots with 28 in 29 games.

The Salukis, who didn't have a single first team all-conference pick between 2008-2013, had at least one player named to the first team for the fourth straight year. SIU had two or more first teamers for the third straight season.

Nicole Martin, SIU's fourth-leading scorer and third-leading rebounder, made the MVC All-Freshman Team. The 6-foot-1 forward from Jefferson City, Missouri, is shooting 50.6 percent from the field in 29 games, including 14 starts.

SIU (16-13), the fourth seed at this weekend's MVC tournament, takes on fifth-seeded Wichita State (14-15) at 2:30 p.m. Friday in the quarterfinals.

The Shockers had one player on the all-conference first team, junior forward Rangie Bessard (16.4 points, 7.2 rebounds per game). Senior guard TaQuandra Mike, who is fifth in the league in steals per game (two), made the All-Defensive Team.

Three repeat selections to the first team, Drake's Caitlin Ingle and Lizzy Wendell and Northern Iowa guard Madison Weekly, joined Napier. Bessard, Evansville's Sara Dickey, Missouri State's Liza Fruendt, Northern Iowa's Ellie Herzberg, Drake freshman guard Becca Hittner and Bradley's Leti Lerma rounded out the first team.

Drake's Sammie Bachrodt and Becca Jonas were honorable mention picks, along with Missouri State's Lexi Hughes, Indiana State's Ashley Taia and Evansville's Camary Williams.

Mike, Wendell, Bachrodt, Lerma and Williams made up the Valley's All-Defensive Team.

Martin joined Hittner, Bradley's Chelsea Brackmann, Northern Iowa's Megan Maahs and Missouri State's Alexa Willard on the All-Freshman Team.
