CARBONDALE — The SIU women's basketball team opens conference play with an Indiana swing beginning tonight.

The Salukis (5-6) take on Evansville (3-8) tonight at 7 p.m. (WVZA 105.1 FM) and Indiana State (2-9) on Sunday at 2 p.m. (WHET 97.7 FM) SIU and the Purple Aces have split 56 meetings (28-28), while the Salukis and Sycamores have split 90 games (45-45).

Tonight's matchup features two of the top-three shooting teams in the Missouri Valley Conference. SIU is shooting 42.5 percent from the field, third-best in the league, while Evansville is second at 44.2 percent. Only defending league champion Drake (44.8 percent) has shot it better.

SIU sophomore guard Kristen Nelson finished with 14 points against Miami (Florida) on Dec. 20. Not only did she tie a career-high for points, but it was the third time in her career, and second time this season, that she scored in double figures. She also set career bests in field goals made (five), field goals attempted (11) and minutes (29).

Kylie Giebelhausen, SIU's only senior, scored in double figures for the seventh time in 11 games this season with her 12 points against Miami. It marked the 58th time in 105 career games that she reached double figures in her career.

Hannah Noe, a graduate transfer from Southeast Missouri State, leads Evansville at 17.5 points per game. The Purple Aces have lost six of their last seven games.
