Shaye Harre blasted a three-run home run in game two of a doubleheader versus Indiana State to lift Southern Illinois University to a 9-1 lead before the game was suspended due to rain. SIU (26-22) lost the opener, 2-1, and will resume game two on Saturday at 10 a.m., plus the third game of the series.
Harre became the Salukis' all-time record holder for runs batted in with 149.
Indiana State (21-26) took game one with a pair of runs in the third innning. The contest started off with a triple by Susie Baranski in the top of the first inning. Eyrika Brandenburg hit a sacrifice fly to center field, easily scoring Baranski for SIU's only run of the game.
SIU got on the board in the third inning of Game Two, plating three runs. With one out in the inning, both Baranski and Brandenburg walked. Harre then sent a no-doubter over the right field wall for her 30th career home run and seventh of the season. It was RBIs 147-149, making her SIU's career RBI leader.
After Harre's homer the Saluki offense added three more runs in the top of the fifth and then again in the sixth. Katelyn Massa and Sydney Jones both had two-run singles, and Brandenburg had an RBI single.
