Nashville’s Hornettes won their third straight Class 1A sectional title Friday.

Nashville easily outdistanced second place Belleville Althoff, 121-79. Chester was third with 68, just one point ahead of Trenton Wesclin.

Sophomore Sydney Schnitker was a double winner for the Hornettes, grabbing the long and triple jump titles. Nashville also earned first place finishes in the discus, Josie Middleton, and the 100-meter hurdles, Jadah Heidel.

Heidel also placed second in the 300 meter hurdles. Nashville will send athletes to state in seven events.

Others winning two events were Okawville’s Madelyn Tepe, the 800 and 1600 meters. Madison’s Janiya Collins won both the 100 meters and the high jump.

The Class 1A girls preliminaries will take place Thursday at Eastern Illinois University. The finals will be on Saturday.
