ST. LOUIS — Missouri Valley Conference women's basketball champion Drake, which moved up to 18th in the country in the USA Today coaches poll Monday, received a 10 seed in the NCAA Tournament.

The Bulldogs (28-4), who became the first team in Valley history to go 18-0 during conference play, won the MVC tournament Sunday in overtime over Northern Iowa. Drake will take on seventh-seeded Kansas State (22-10) in Manhattan, Kansas, Saturday at a time to be announced.

Northern Iowa (24-8), in a bit of a surprise, also made the field Monday night, as a 10 seed. The Panthers will make their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2011 against seventh seed DePaul (26-7) on Friday in Starksville, Mississippi.

The winner of Northern Iowa-DePaul will face the winner of second-seeded/regional host Mississippi State (29-4) and 15 seed Troy (21-10).

The winner of Drake-Kansas State faces either second-seeded Stanford (28-5) or 15 seed New Mexico State (24-6) in the second round.

The Valley got two teams into the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2013, when Creighton got a 10 seed as an at-large and tournament champ Wichita State got a 14.

Missouri State was invited to the WNIT late Monday night. The matchups for that tournament were expected after deadline Monday.
