Crab Orchard - The cold front that passed through the region earlier this week slowed fishing this week. Anglers are picking up a few crappie in 6-10 feet on minnows and jigs. Most other species are slow.

Horseshoe Lake - Crappie action remains steady. Anglers are using jigs and minnows fished around and over brush piles. Fish are being caught throughout the lake. Most fish being caught are keepers. Other anglers are still catching catfish drift fishing worms just off the bottom in the middle of the lake.

Kaskaskia River-Baldwin Lake - Fishing traffic has been light. Anglers are still taking a few catfish around the rip rap, close to the hot water channel. Most fish are being caught on cut bait or live shad.

Kinkaid Lake - Muskie action was excellent last week, but fishing has slowed considerably since the cold front passed through Southern Illinois earlier this week. Crappie are still steady. Anglers are finding fish at varying depths and reporting good success on minnows or jigs. Bass are rated good on spinner baits. Bluegill and catfish action is iffy.

Lake Murphysboro - Bass are the best bet. Anglers continue to report good success on spinner baits. Crappie had been good until the mid-week cold front. Action has been hit and miss since then. Catfish and bluegill are slow.

Lake of Egypt - Fishing is still spotty. The water temperature has dropped to about 64 degrees. Some bass are being caught on soft plastics fished off the points. Crappie are still slow. The fish that are being caught are still holding in 10-12 feet of water. Minnows and jigs seem to be equally effective. Catfish have slowed as the water the water has cooled.

Little Grassy - Fishing traffic has been light. Anglers are taking a few bluegill and redear. Most fish are holding in 8-10 feet of water and are being caught on wax worms and red wigglers. Crappie and bass action has been slowed. The Little Grassy Campground Marina closes for the season tomorrow.

Ohio River-Smithland Pool - River is slightly above normal pool. The water is murky. Anglers are taking a few crappie on minnows fished around deadfalls. The best action has been in Grand Pierre. Fishing for other species is slow.
