Violence Against Asian American Community We are deeply saddened by the deadly attacks in Georgia and outraged by the violence against Asian Americans across the nation. The unfortunate reality is that thousands of hate incidents towards Asian Americans have been reported since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. These events have shattered the sense of security throughout the Asian American community. Xenophobia and racist behavior in this country has no place and must end. We stand strongly and definitely in solidarity with the Asian, Asian American, and Pacific Islander community, in addition to all communities who have been impacted by racism. We are committed to ending policies and practices that promote or perpetuate racial, ethnic, gender, and sexual bias in our society. As members of the healing community, we recognize that it is our job to stand unequivocally against racially motivated discrimination and violence that impacts our patients and fellow healthcare professionals. In light of these events, we realize that many of our patients and colleagues may be feeling isolated, afraid, and frustrated. No one should live under threats that generate fear and anxiety, and that negatively impact their overall health and wellbeing. We vow to speak out against injustices and to remain dedicated to upholding values of diversity, equality, inclusion, respect, and the value of human life regardless of race, religion, gender, social status, and country of origin.
