Blog: Dillman Performance provides needed automotive service to area

Chris Dillman and Tony Shovan run a shop near Christopher that specializes in performance automobiles.

I’m always being asked where to take high performance cars to get quality service in Southern Illinois.

With the help of my dad, I tackle the majority of my own maintenance, but there comes a point when I don’t have the proper tools or the necessary lift to do the job.

I’ve heard plenty of horror stories about automotive service and I have had my share of bad experiences. Unfortunately, in my experience when I have reached out in need of service on any of the cars I’ve owned, everyone seems reluctant to want to work on them. I don’t know if it is incompetence or the fear of damage but once Corvette is mentioned most want to turn around and run.

Chris Dillman and Tony Shovan run a shop near Christopher that specializes in performance automobiles. They have the knowledge, provide great service, and stand by their work.

Owner Chris Dillman has 36 years of automotive experience and opened Dillman Performance in 2002. “I wanted to go my own way, not the way someone else wanted me to,” Dillman said. “I’ve always been a fan of muscle cars. I love the big engines and muscle car feel.”

Shovan is an ASE certified automotive mechanic and the two have been working together since 2007.

“Tony adds all the elements I’m not an expert at and we complement each other very well,” Dillman said. “We take pride in what we do. We want to be a one-stop shop. Not only can we work on your car but we can also get you all the parts.”

I will be working with Dillman Performance on a new series of posts about automotive service. If you have any questions or topics you would like the Dillman Performance team and I to cover feel free to email me at

You can reach Chris at or 618-993-1000 with any questions or to schedule an appointment. Also, be sure to check out their Facebook page at
