This is my first summer back in the Midwest in 28 years, and getting used to the heat and humidity again has provided a great deal of comic relief for my coworkers.
But my struggles with the heat are nothing like what many workers are having to put up with during this stretch of oppressive heat and humidity as they try to do their jobs.
I came across these workers from Asphalt Maintenance working on the parking lot across from the Student Center at SIU. Talk about hot, they said they had taken readings on Monday and the temperature on the asphalt had hit 160 degrees.
No more complaining from me.
