CARTERVILLE — Becky Salazar will join the Egyptian Area Agency on Aging, Inc. as the executive director beginning November 4.
Salazar comes to the position with over 20 years of experience, having served in supervisory positions for Shawnee Alliance and Southern Illinois Regional Social Services.
Salazar received a bachelor's degree in sociology from the University of Evansville and a master's degree in sociology from Northern Illinois University. She currently lives in Herrin.
She comes to the Egyptian AAA from Shawnee Alliance, a subsidiary of Shawnee Health and Social Services Development Corporation where she spent the last 12 years.

Salazar will replace the current executive director, John M. Smith, who will retire after nearly 30 years with the agency.
"Ms. Salazar’s experience in social work and experience as a supervisor will be invaluable in helping the her meet the demands of her new position," said Smith.
