Jonathan A. Mitchell, a Carbondale attorney, recently earned global recognition during the 2016 Military Law Training Symposium in San Diego, California.

Mitchell was awarded the Rear Admiral Hugh H. Howell Jr. Award of Excellence (Senior Officer). The Rear Admiral Hugh H. Howell Jr. Award of Excellence is the highest individual award presented yearly to two Reserve Judge Advocates who demonstrated the most outstanding support of the navy and Naval Reserve. The Navy Reserve JAG Corps has more than 400 lawyers worldwide practicing in fields of military justice, international law, operational law, legal assistance, admiralty and other specialized areas. Along with his many contributions, Mitchell served in Iraq in 2007 and in Afghanistan in 2013.
