Community First Bank of the Heartland, headquartered in Mount Vernon, has been chosen as a finalist for the Community Bankers Association of Illinois Award for Excellence and Innovation, according to a news release from the organization.
“Our institution was founded on serving our local area because local matters,” Jo David Cummins, president and CEO of Community First Bank, said in the release. “When we discussed doing something to honor our last ten years as Community First Bank, it was a natural that we chose to do so by finding a way to give back to our area."
The Community Love campaign, which ran for three months last fall, began as a fundraising effort to help improve the quality of life in the region, culminated with donations to 10 local non-profit organizations totaling $30,000.
The annual meeting of Community Bankers Association of Illinois will be this September, with the Award for Excellence and Innovation announcement coming at a luncheon on Sept. 29.
