Southern Illinois Healthcare is set to offer Heart Failure University, a daylong program April 22 at John A. Logan College in Carterville.
SIH Heart Failure Navigator Susan Pope, RN, said participants will learn about the basics of the disease, how to manage diet, the importance of medicines used to treat congestive heart failure and exercise guidelines.
Guest speakers will include physician assistants and nurse practitioners from Prairie Cardiovascular Consultants at Prairie Heart Institute.
The program will begin at 10 a.m. and run to 2:30 p.m. Guests will be served a low sodium lunch. There is no charge to participants.
