Kemper CPA Group announces new partner

Lance Roye, CPA has been named a partner at Kemper CPA Group LLP in the firm’s Marion office. He also serves on the firm’s Health Insurance Committee. After graduating from Marion High School, Lance attended Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. He returned to Southern Illinois University a few years later to earn a Master of Accountancy degree with a specialization in taxation.

Lance focuses on individual, corporate, and partnership taxation. He also provides bookkeeping and payroll services and serves as a member of various audit teams. Lance has completed the Faurote Group Leadership Training and is in the process of obtaining the QuickBooks Pro-Advisor Certification.

Lance has served as a vote tabulator for the Miss Illinois Scholarship Pageant for several years and has been a member of the “bank team” for the Relay for Life event. He currently serves as the bookkeeper for the Marion Youth Baseball and Softball Association.

Lance is married to Amanda Roye. They have two children, Dyson and Malia.

Diane Goffinet to speak at Learning in Retirement

Diane Goffinet will discuss “What Is a Medical-Legal Partnership? Improving Health by Addressing Unmet Legal Issues in the Lives of Patients and the Community” at the Southern Illinois Learning in Retirement meeting at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 21. Ms. Goffinet is the Managing Attorney of the Southern Regional Office of Land of Lincoln Legal Aid where she supervises the Medical-Legal Partnership (MLP) activities. Her work to develop MLPs covers 65 Illinois counties. She will explain how the Partnership program works and share some of its results.

An SIU School of Law graduate, Ms. Goffinet is a co-founder of the MLP of Southern Illinois, which has been recognized as an Outstanding MLP by the National Center or MLPs.

The program, free and open to the public, will be held at Grace United Methodist Church, 220 N. Tower Road. A coffee and social hour will begin at 9:30 a.m.

Dave Davis promoted to weekday morning anchor

WSIL-TV is pleased to announce the promotion of Dave Davis to weekday morning news anchor.

Dave, 41, joined WSIL in 2014 as a multi-media journalist. He’s worked as a fill-in anchor, reporter, and photographer covering a variety of stories, including U.S. Presidential rallies, state elections, and countless breaking news stories.

He began his career more than 20 years ago as a rodeo announcer before moving on to combat sports announcing. Dave has worked as an international ring announcer for multiple boxing and Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) companies, occasionally televised on major networks.

Davis is a native of southern Illinois. He and his wife Samantha live in Johnston City with their two sons, Luke and Lane.

“I’m extremely honored and excited about this new position,” said Davis. “This is a dream come true. It will allow me to inform, protect and entertain viewers in the region I grew up in, and it doesn’t get any better than that.”

Dave joins longtime News 3 anchor Evie Allen and meteorologist Nick Hausen on News 3 This Morning.

Don E. Patton honored for 30 years of service

The Illinois Community College Trustees Association recently announced the recipients of its 2019 Longtime Service Awards among those honored this year, was Shawnee College Trustee, Mr. Don E. Patton. Mr. Patton has served the Shawnee Community College district faithfully for over 30 years and is the current delegate to the Illinois Community College Trustee Association for the college.

A lifelong resident of the local region, Mr. Patton and his wife Karla reside in Cairo.
