Julie Campbell presents Murphysboro Police Chief Jamie Ellermeyer with a Patriot Award.

Murphysboro Police Chief Jamie Ellermeyer was presented with a Patriot Award in January by Julie Campbell, Illinois Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve volunteer, in recognition of extraordinary support of his employees serving in the Guard and Reserve.

Ellermeyer was nominated for being highly supportive of the National Guard by his Reserve Component employee, Army National Guardsman Sergeant Timothy Bishop.

“Chief Ellermeyer manages to juggle an already tight schedule due to low staffing, while showing full support to several National Guard soldiers who are employed by the department,,” Bishop said in his nomination.

The Patriot Award was created by ESGR to publicly recognize individuals who provide outstanding patriotic support and cooperation to their employees who have answered their nation’s call to serve. Supportive supervisors are critical to maintaining the strength and readiness of the nation’s Guard and Reserve units.

“I am honored to be awarded the Patriot Award and I plan to continue supporting and employing members of the Guard and Reserve.” Ellermeyer said in a news release.
