Phographer Brian Kearney will present a program, "Photographic Nightscapes of Giant City State Park," in which he will display photos he took of the iconic park at night, and talk about shooting photos after dark.
Kearney has photographed Southern Illinois since the 1970s, and with the permission of park staff, has entered Giant City State Park at night to take photos of astral events like meteorite showers or the alignment of the Milky Way with certain park landmarks. He uses light painting and time lapse photography to capture some of his frames.
At the program, Kearney will display images he has taken in the park, and will discuss the difference between nightscape photography and astrophotography, as well as equipment, shooting landscapes with stars, planning, processing, apps and other resources.
The program is free, but registration is required. Call 618-457-4836 to register.
