Arsenic and Old Lace at SIC

Nicole Taylor of Harrisburg, as Abby Brewster, pours a “special” glass of wine for Dalton Lampert of Rosiclare, as Mr. Witherspoon, during the rehearsal of a scene from "Arsenic and Old Lace." The show runs Feb. 7 and 8 at 7 p.m. at SIC.

The Southeastern Illinois College Theatre is set to present "Arsenic and Old Lace."

The play is set for 7 p.m. Feb. 7 and 8 in the George T. Dennis Visual & Performing Arts Center on SIC's Harrisburg campus.

According to a news release from SIC, the play is a farcical black comedy with plenty of "murder, madness and mayhem."

Gareth York directs. The play was written by Joseph Kesselring in 1939 and opened on Broadway in 1941, and also had a film adaptation in 1944 starring Cary Grant and Frank Capra.

Tickets are $8, or $6 for students, SIC staff and seniors. Tickets may be purchased at the door, or in advance by calling 618-252-5400 extension 2486 or 618-841-4649, or by emailing
