Stone Soup Shakespeare is again on tour this summer performing "Taming of the Shrew" in outdoor venues around Illinois and surrounding states.
The theater outfit travels Midwestern states each spring and summer performing Shakespeare outdoors, with an interactive and modern twist.
This year's staging of Shakespeare comedy "Taming of the Shrew" sets the story of two sisters and their journey to married life in the Wild West. An ensemble of six actors brings to life more than 20 characters. The production mixes song and dance and Shakespeare's drama.
Remaining performances this season in Southern Illinois are at 6 p.m. Saturday on the Hickory Lodge lawn in Carbondale and 6 p.m. Sunday in Evergreen Park in Carbondale.
Performances are free, and no seating is provided — bring a lawn chair or a blanket. In case of inclement weather, performances could be canceled or postponed; visit facebook.com/StoneSoupShakespeare to stay up-to-date.
Audience members are encouraged to bring a canned good or nonperishable food item for donation to local food pantries. The audience is also encouraged to bring a picnic.
