A Carbondale man is celebrating the recent publication of his latest book, "Ain't Good for a Pup to Run with the Dogs."

Dick Matthews writes in a news release that the book is a tribute to his father, who came to Illinois from Tennessee in the early 1930s. The book is about his coming-of-age in Hoopeston, Illinois, he says.

"Pup," published by Liongrass Editions, is Matthews' third published book. He and his wife, Pam, recently moved back to Carbondale from New England; Dick Matthews is a Southern Illinois University graduate.

The book is for sale at Yesteryear Tobacconist at 213 S. Illinois Ave. in downtown Carbondale. If people would like more information, Matthews asks them to send him an email at dickm4242@aol.com.
